Pianist Misha Piatigorsky is a stunning pianist who the Boston Globe says, “beautifully merges the worlds of serious jazz and pop.” Piatigorsky started as a classical pianist, made his public debut at age 5 on Russian National Television before finding jazz as his calling. He went on to earn a bachelor’s degree studying with Kenny Barron and won the Monk Composers Competition in 2004. As one of the more innovative jazz pianists, he has toured the world as a leader and collaborated with musicians such as Mark Murphy, Wynton Marsalis, Jon Hendricks, Joe Lovano, Michael Brecker and John Faddis. Piatigorsky will be leading a quintet with front line of rising stars Jonathan Powell and Tivon Pennicott as well as a solid rhythm section with Boris Kozlov and Ari Hoenig.
