Drummer Albert “Tootie” Heath, called “one of the most swinging drummers in jazz history” by JazzTimes makes his Smoke debut with a stellar trio featuring rising star pianist Emmet Cohen. Heath is the younger brother of bassist Percy and saxophonist Jimmy with whom he famously worked as the Heath Brothers. But, his first recording was actually with John Coltrane before he worked with many of the legendary figures including J.J. Johnson, Cedar Walton, Dexter Gordon, and the Jazztet. Tootie remains as important and vital as ever releasing a series of new recordings and working with new generations of musicians.
