Legendary pianist Harold Mabern marks his 80th birthday with a weekend-long celebration featuring special guests. As Audiophile Audition says, “Harold Mabern is one of our last living piano legends…His affinity for the blues, honed from Memphis, through the Windy City, and arrival in the Big Apple, make his piano playing a treat…Long live Harold Mabern.” An ageless wonder, Mabern is still one of the most powerful pianists around as he illuminates the music history through exquisite performances and clever anecdotes. He is joined by special guests during this weekend run including vocalist Kurt Elling on Friday, drummer Jimmy Cobb on Saturday, bassist Bob Cranshaw on Sunday and, of course, his longtime associate George Coleman on Sunday as well. Don’t miss this opportunity to wish one of the great men of jazz a happy birthday.
