The great Bobby Hutcherson, who passed away last summer, was called “one of the most admired and accomplished vibraphonists in jazz” and “one of the first to adapt his instrument to a freer postbop language, often playing chords with a pair of mallets in each hand,” by the New York Times. His music and lasting influence is the focus of this all-star tribute that features Warren Wolf, Mike LeDonne, Doug Weiss, and Al Foster. Warren Wolf has been called “arguably the most exciting bop vibraphonist since Bobby Hutcherson,” according to JazzTimes and pianist Mike LeDonne, one of the premier pianists of his generation, worked for many years with another legend of the vibes, Milt Jackson. First call bassist Doug Weiss and drum legend Al Foster complete this all-star quartet. Foster worked with Miles Davis throughout much of the 70s and ’80s, is known for making everyone around him sound better. Throughout his career, he has performed extensively with Sonny Rollins, Herbie Hancock, and Joe Henderson.
