SYOTOS features some of the top Latin jazz players in New York City who redefine the meaning of Latin Jazz by combining Afro-Cuban, funk, jazz, gospel, and contemporary classical music. This is Latin jazz with global reach; Latin jazz with post modern attitude, steeped in a New York vibe. TimeOut New York calls the group “a Latin jazz institution” and The New York Times adds, “SYOTOS plays with fire with erudition!” The band’s members are alumni from the bands of Tito Puente, Eddie Palmieri, and Ray Barretto and their music is infused with the spirits of these legendary artists. Trombonist and bandleader Chris Washburne started SYOTOS in 1992 and they will help celebrate his birthday.
